Great Gray Owl

The secretive Great Gray Owl breeds in northern boreal forest, muskeg, and mountain meadow. This owl occasionally appears south of its breeding range, offering surprise encounters. The carving was commissioned to celebrate the wonder of such mysterious encounters. Carved in soapstone, this sculpture features the concentric rings that dominate the owl’s face.

Overall dimensions are 7 1/2” x 7” x 5”. The carving resides in the community of Rondeau, Ontario.
